Combis KRS-04 and KRS-05

Post by pp10050 »

I bought my Kronos 73 second hand and it came with a lot of add ons. I rewrote the system files using the v3.0.2 discs and everything works fine. However, when I load KRS-04 (Pro Splits and Layers Combi) and KRS-05 (Ensemble Combinations) into their default banks, Int E and Int F, I get the wrong programs being played by the Combis. I know that these require the programs in the Factory folder to be installed, but, since I already loaded them when I re-installed the system discs, why don't the programs line up with the Combis?

Edit: Am I right in thinking that the KRS' are set up for the old (Kronos Mk1 ) Program and Combi layout, and I am trying to get them to work on the new (Kronos 2 ) program layout. If so, can I remap the Combis to play the correct programs, or do I have to load the older Factory file. The Voice Name List from the install discs corresponds exactly with the actual programs in the Banks of the Kronos.
I hope this makes sense to someone, Thanks

OK, so either no one understands what I'm on about, or I've stumped even the best brains on this forum. Whatever, I sorted the problem. The discs I was given with this Kronos 1 when I bought it belong to a Kronos 2. This means that , when I rewrote the SSD with them, I put the latest Factory files on. This includes the Berlin Grand & EXs 18, the Legendary Strings Demo. These programs are not correct for the Combis I installed, KRS 04 & KRS 05.
I downloaded the Factory v2 folder from Korg and installed it, replacing the Factory folder which was installed by the Kronos 2 discs. This has restored the Kronos 1 /Kronos X Programs, so now all the Combis play the correct sounds. Simple, really.

You can remap combi/program references in the global menu. This means ALL combis will change ALL their references from program bank X to program bank Y.

You can also use a program like PCGTools, created by our member MichelKeijzers, to reorganize PCGs.

Combis KRS-04 and KRS-05

Post by jackh »

Load the PRELOAD_KRONOSX.PCG file. It has the original Program Bank order, and the new KRS07 programs will be in the AA and BB Banks.

It's easier to use this file if you have EXs11 / 12 / 15 /16 and/or the KRS04 / 05 Combis loaded, as all these Combi Banks reference the original Program Bank order.

You can change the Bank references as SanderXpander suggested, but you'll have to change the Int A-F and User A-F, for each EXs11 / 12 / 15 /16 / KRS04 / KRS05 Combi Bank.
