I bought this for a bit of fun but I realised the advantages of midi keyboard which is battery powered. I can now enter midi note information without mains power.

It's a great keyboard, and I've seen pics of a band legitimately using one as a keytar.

Cool! Very inexpensive so I've just ordered one which should be coming in a few days. Thanks for the tip!

Got this keyboard the other day and it's lots of fun when hooking up the Volca Keys or Bass through the MIDI cable. Is there a way to affect pitch bend or modulation using the keyboard's controls?

Never mind. I realized that the button near the control strip on the handle needs to be held down to create pitch bends. This seems counter-intuitive but it does work. I'm thinking I could just tape the button down so that pitch bend is always available.
Still, for the price this is an incredibly fun device to have along with the Volcas.

Here's a similar, yet inexpensive way to get a powerful keytar: Convert the Kross1 into a keytar. This DIY keytar has 5 octaves of full size keys, with multiple splits, battery powered, under 10lbs, and one of the coolest looking KROG's ever made.
