What unit plays original quality for imported/own samples

I've heard some units not being able to play original quality for imported sounds. I've heard this is compensated by being able to do more flexible effects chains and deeper sample editing capabilities, whereas the ones that DO play the imported samples closer to, original quality EXCEPT... That is compensated by less flexibility. Is there a comparison of what a sample sounds like originally and then what it sounds like in a sampler?

in regards to portability, I imagine the more powerful the unit is, the bigger it may be but, I am looking for something that is the MOST portable with the HIGHEST quality imported sample playback with the MOST flexible features.

I am absolutely NOT looking for a band instrument OR anything that connects to a laptop. What I am looking for is:

- Ability to load my own one shots/drums without stopping the sequence
- The ability to control the volume of each sound
- FX on each individual pad: compressor, reverb, various distortion etc
- Filter knobs that I can control more than one parameter
- The ability to change any of the sounds pitch/filter envelope's attack, hold and delay to create stabby and swelling sounds without stopping sequence
- Ability to control pitch subtly for oscillation movement (but that just sounds like i want a synth and they are too big!)
- Ability to play chords (again, might be too much to ask for, I suppose I can just pre write the chords in ableton)

Idea that fell through: Electribes because they don't play samples at original quality (although I heard the new ones are at 48000khz but I'm not sure if that makes it play better quality)

My advice is don't worry too much about specifications,numbers on paper,sample frequecies.
If the machine works how you want it then it will probably sound fine.
You have a demanding lists of needs so maybe Tarekith is right.
(I like the OP-1 and KP3s -both off which dont fit your bill).

early samplers used lower quality of samples and still sounded cool.
everybody is going nuts bout 48 kHz hi fidelity :\

The closest thing specs wise has:

* load samples onto pads with no stopping
* no quality reduction
* 4 simultaneous effects
* chords
* ADSR envelope
* velocity pads
* part mixer to adjust levels
* autochop
* runs on a battery
* large colour screen
* 53 minutes of sample memory but can play directly from SD card
* 16 traCk sequencer

...

Unfortunately it's the Beat Thang

I love mine and got it for £200, but there are a lot of haters out there.

If people here are worried about the "gap" (or other audio glitch) on the E2, just wait until they try to switch patterns on the Beat Thang.

Fantastic price. Worth it as an HD phrase sampler at that price.

Haha, yes, pattern change is a joke, but song mode is seamless.

If only they'd add in some of the missing features and fix a few bugs it would be the best, easiest to use sampler out there.

It's so easy to use it's like falling off a log.

And how does it compare to the electribe esx2?

It has 64 voices of polyphony, 960ppqn resolution, velocity, ADSR and 16 tracks to use as you wish.

However, no step or grid edit and only a pitch and mod wheel for expression (you can plug a foot pedal in also).

Also, I'm confident that we will never see a firmware update :(
