I've always been a bit confused by trying to backup my Kronos as I'm not exactly sure what or how to back everything up.

I routinely do a "save all" backup to a thumbdrive, but I've never tried to load from it to verify it or any such thing, for fear that I might end up deleting stuff on the harddrive I don't want to delete. So maybe I've never really backed up anything at all?

Anyways...I've got a gig coming up where I'll be "flying in" and using a rented Kronos. I want to be able to load in all my programs, combis, samples, and setlists and set up this Kronos to be as much as just-like-mine as possible.

What and where and how do I need to backup stuff to accomplish this?

I do the save on the HD, i have a backup on a thumb drive and i also made a compressed file uploaded to my dropbox just in case...
never had any problems, I often load sets from other people, and when i reload my set everything is the way i saved it.

A word of advice, though, this has happened to some people i know with rented or borrowed keyboards... You have to be aware of the software version, both yours and the keyboard you're renting or borrowing...
Usually, you can't load a set made with a newer version into a keyboard with older version... That goes not only for Kronos, but for pretty much any keyboard...

As for saving, use Save all and it will do the trick. Check that you get four files and one folder on your thumb drive
There should be name.KGE, name.KSC, name_UserBank.KSC, name.PCG and name (folder)
Where name is what you put when you save.

I thought about the OS thing, so if they can't tell me for sure which one they have, I'm planning on bringing along the latest software version and giving them a free upgrade if I have to!

Bring the recovery discs and external drive, just in case...
I had a friend that messed up the update, had to do the recovery...
