Electribe Sampler 2: Copy Different Parts Between Patterns!

Korg slipped in this little undocumented feature into the new OS of the ES2.

Typically on an E2 we are used to:

E2 wrote:1. Use the <Part> buttons to select a part to copy.
2. Select PART COPY from PART UTILITY in the edit menu.
3. Press the Menu/Enter button and then press the part of the
trigger pad where you want to copy the data.
All contents of the original part will be copied to the part that
you selected.

On the Electribe Sampler there are a few new undocumented steps:

4. The pattern you are on will appear, use the value knob to select the pattern that contains the part you want.
5. Press the part of the trigger pad to be copied.
6. Press the part of the trigger pad where you want to copy the data.
All contents of the original part will be copied to the part that
you selected.

So it looks like Korg has been listening after all.

I think we should be expecting this in the new E2 Firmware due to out be mid July.

Another workflow improvement in the E2S: Export/Import All Pattern. This is very useful to backup user data. I hope this command will also be implemented in the E2.

Yep very true!

I stumbled on this by accident.

I noticed when I was copying and pasting parts on a pattern the process was irritating. It would send me back to show me what pattern I'm in. At first I thought the Copy Part feature was not working, then I hit enter and the unit asked what part I wanted (new question) and then of course where I want it. I was dealing with this for a while and was puzzled about the extra step/confirmation.

So, I had this funny thought; "what if the reason the process shows me what pattern I'm in was only to allow me to change to a different pattern?" Sure enough at the moment when I see what pattern I'm in I can change the pattern and select the part. When I pasted the part in my original pattern, there it was, a part from a different pattern.

A hidden, undocumented feature that gives us a view of the future of the firmware for the E2. I'm guessing the new firmware will have the save all pattern feature as well. Now knowing how you can move parts from pattern to pattern makes the save all parts feature make more sense.

...and do so while the sequencer is running. $\:D/$
Mmmmhmmm. That's right. While the sequencer is running and it mutes the copied part automatically for you. That's a fairly awesome bonus I would say.

So does the ES2 write patterns smoothly while playing?

That's becoming a bigger grrr for me while playing the E2 - it jolts me out of playing to pre-programming.

a snarky aside not aimed at any individual here but korg - an additional feature - of this importance too - and it's neither documented nor announced?

that's less than amateur - back-shed amateur synth builders would be so proud and tumbling over themselves to announce it

Yeah....I was going thru te old Electribe manuals the other day...ea1 and es1....the difference between those and the e2's is astounding to say the least. I don't know to call this laziness, carelessness, or arrogance on Korg's part...

That is indeed a really cool feature. That's exactly how the Roland MC-505's "MegaMix" feature works. When you're jamming out on a single pattern, you can select a Part from an entirely different pattern and copy it into the current one you're playing. You can do a lot of spontaneous things by juggling parts between patterns.
