Well, they finally announced it/them, but for some reason I feel a bit underwhelmed

I *would* be tempted if Yamaha release a full size 5 octave keyboard with all 4 synths embedded.

UK price around £340 each, available September.

If and when I want mini I will look at an op1, otherwise they can keep it. I am sick of toy like mini items

Who the hell did Yamaha conduct their market research on to come up with this product ? Umpalumpahs and munchkins ?????

I couldn't agree more, even if the idea is great (I love the CP), but I'm tired of all these mini keyboards. I've tried, but I just don't get on with them. Yes, I *could* hook them up to a controller, but that means adding another keyboard to my rig

I'm hoping, and keeping my fingers and legs crossed, that Korg will announce a full sized Oddy tomorrow, even if it's in kit form like the MS20. My wallet is open and ready!

Are they even serious about this? Maybe its because I'm a more hands-on player, but what really is the point of something like this? I don't think this could inspire me to write two lines of music!

I just hope yamaha's new promised "workstation" the Montage isnt cut down to a "work bench ".

Meh...you guys can complain all you want about something you'd never buy in the first place.

How about Korg's own "mini-key" products, and Novation's, and Roland's? Those products sell well. That's the target market, gents.

I've had the fortune of seeing these and playing and hearing them. They sound frickin' awesome. Not "tiny". Hook up a full-size 88 key controller if you want to feel like you're playing a "man's" synthesizer.

I can guarantee you, if you get the chance to actually play and hear one of these, you'll at least have to admit, they sound great.

A keyboard that can run on batteries or AC, fits in a laptop bag, has Midi and USB, built-in speakers, and high-quality sound, for around $500. You don't think these will sell? Think again.

Frankly, I hope every manufacturer's products sell well. It's good for the synth industry.

Those are sorta good points, yeah. But not having any sort of preset management/selection without external equipment is such a bloody retarded decision I can't facepalm enough. Especially at the price they're asking for those toys. Really, what were they thinking? Just awful.

Oh, and 8 voices for DX is such a bad, bad thing. With today's DSP it should've been much more than stuff from the 80s...

As a long time Yamaha fan, who jumped ship to the Kronos last year (and loving it)....

Crap, crap, crap, and at a ridiculous price in a crippled interface - I detest mini-keys.

£350 per synth in a crippled interface (unless you are a hobbit)? My 9 engines in my Kronos cost me £266 each and came in a lovely integrated package.

I mean come on, offering a DX9 with mini keys in 2015, when I have a TG77, SY99, FS1r, patchable FM in my Nord G2 Engine and MOD-7... Are they insulting me?

Do I really want an obscure Yamaha organ, when I am a Hammond (Clonewheel) man with either NI-B4II or Kronos CX-3 for choices?

Do I want a crippled CP piano, when I have Pianoteq and its CP model (really authentic)?

Do I want to pay £350 for a CS synth in a crippled interface when I have a CS80V in my Arturia collection?

Yamaha have really lost the plot when it comes to SERIOUS synthesis.

Do any of these toys compete with my EX5, TG77, SY99, FS1r, AN1x, PLG150-AN and PLG150-VL (inside a Motif Rack ES)? Not a chance!

I just cannot summon the G.A.S. for these.

There is already talk about what the next trademarked name, Montage, will mean, but I aint hold my breath...
