I know this is pretty subjective, but just wondering what speakers people are happy using with their SV-1 in a home situation.

Would neutral powered monitors intended for studio mixing be ok (like Genelec or KRK Rokit etc) or would something warmer or maybe brighter be a better match for the SV-1 sound?

I don't want to spend thousands but I also don't want to undermine the sound of the keyboard either.

Thoughts?

I have a set of relatively cheap Logitech 2+1 speakers that are marketed as "Computer Speakers". Great bang for the buck (about 40 UK pounds) - because the market for computer speakers is much bigger than for studio gear, the kit is made on a much bigger scale, and hence is cheaper.

A decent pair of studio monitors would be a step up in quality, but you'd have to spend 10x the cash for a relatively small increase in sound quality.

Normally, I play through a pair of Yamaha DXR10's, which sound great, but are really way too powerful for using at home.

I'm *very* happy with my Roland KC110, would buy it again in a shot.

It's a little smaller than a file crate, it lasts 12 hours and counting on batteries (great for parties) and sounds awesome on piano or attached to an mp3 player etc.

MotionSound Pro3T is probably the allaround most badass keys amp available for stage use, but I don't know if you can get one in NZ, and it's rather spendy, before import duties. It has a real spinning horn and a simulated low rotor, but it's also ideal for straight acoustic piano sounds and drum samples. Add a Korg CX3 to your SV-1 and you'd have possibly the ultimate classic rock stage rig.

The SV-1 sounds bitchin' over my studio monitors, which are Mackie MR8mkIIs. The Mackie sound could be thought of as a poor man's Genelec, so I suppose those or the K-Roks should work as well or better; for best results, I'd suggest getting 8 inch woofers, unless you're in a very small space. Equator is making some great and very affordable powered studio monitors as well.
