Problem solved...I had Ableton link turned on.

Why on Earth does it so this??!! This is infuriating as I use audio files which are out of sync when the tempo changes, which it does if I go from one project to the next, keeping the previous project ...

Maybe just use the MicroKEY Air USB input for power from a phone charger etc and use bluetooth connection to the iPad?

From memory iOS support was added with MicroKEY2 range (which includes Air).
