Should work with the ext. pre yes. Just watch out for that hot input into the M3. I think there is a line/mic switch on the M3 input?

The M3 provides no phantom power. Try an inexpensive dynamic cardioid mic for vocorder apps.

Burningbusch had it right! Indeed the USB cable was inducing horrible amounts of hash. I unplug the USB cable and the keyboard is silent.....well almost:)

how do you connect your m3 to your recording device?

M3 l/r into Onyx 1640. Sub outs to MOTU 1224 interface. It's the M3 producing the noise. Maybe something is wrong with this unit.

I'm loving my M3 for a lot of reasons. But I am dissapointed by the noise immiting from the machine. Mine sounds like a high pitched chirping or like computer hash from a bad (cheap) sound card. It ...
