Hi:

Last week i've recieved a external scsi hard disk, it's a seagate 4.5GB that i've bought on ebay.

The problem is when i connect the drive to the trinity, turn on the drive and then turn on the trinity, the keyboard wait so much in the logo screen and then system crash. The complete message is as follows:

SYSTEM ERRORfile name:cscitim.cc line #73
Error code: 107 decimal, 6B hex
FILESYS_SCSITIMER_TIMEOUT no response from x490/x492
PC: FFE4DDAA SR: 80070004 SSP:FF0B3604 USP:FF0BBDBC

Any idea?? Of course, the drive is new and i can't format it yet.

Saludos desde Chile, empieza a hacer calor...

I responded to you via email, but I think the best thing you can do, is check to see if you could have someone do for you a low level format on the drive as for it to have no partitions. I think this will help. I think this happened to me a long time ago. Also, check that the SCSI ID channel is the same on the disk and the trinity. I think it should be 5 but I am not sure as I dont have the trinity with me right now.

IF anyone else has any ideas. Pitch in please.

Yep, try what Musicman suggested and make sure the SCSI settings are set correctly in the Trinity and on the hard drive (particularly, termination).

Hi:

Thanks for your efforts...

Yes, i have a scsi card on my PC, and i make a low level format on the drive, then i make a 540MB partition in DOS format (FAT16). Bring it back to the Trinity, but the same thing, system crash and nothing to do.

The only thing that i forget to say is i don't have the terminator on the hard disk.

On the PC the drive works smooth, that's i don't need a terminator with my computer.

The question is: do i need a terminator on the drive in order to work with my synth???

Yes, you need a termination. This is what probably makes your synth crash.

Either find a termination plug that you put at the rear of the drive enclosure, or remove the drive from the enclosure and check if it has onboard termination (by way of jumper).

hi:

mercy, françois...

I'm in the quest of a centronics terminator, and soon i'll post the jumper configuration of the hard disk (i've openned it last night).

I bought this disk to etroniQ @ ebay, it seems to be a good dealer, but this things only happened to me... Thumbs Up

I'll mail to him and ask for the jumper configuration, wish me luck...

Saludos desde Santiago de Chile, un virus destruyó el disco duro de mi otro computador y perdí 10 años de trabajo en mi Trinity, eso me pasa por no hacer diversas copias de seguridad... si hablas español, comprenderás que me siento muy mal...

You'll find it on the manufacturer's website, or perhaps on a sticker on the drive itself.
