What is the loading procedure of original DX7-patches? Will the Oasys read the SYSEX-files, and will we be able to load a patch at a time, or is it on a per bank basis?.. _________________ Paul: Don't be nervous.

It will only read system exclusive (.SYX) files that contain an entire bank of 32 DX7 patches. It will not read individual patches or incomplete banks.

Hi CB,
As Kevin pointed out, 32 DX "patches" will be loaded at a time. However, once you have them loaded, you can move/rewrite one program (patch) at a time to other locations. So, here is what I would recommend (when MOD-7 becomes available):
1. Keep one User Bank available to dump your .syx files. Incidentally, you can load a 32 DX7 "patch" bank in locations 000 - 031, then another to 032 - 063 etc. till you have all 128 program slots filled. So, you can stack 4 banks of DX7 sounds in this one User Bank for auditioning.
2. Next, keep another User Bank open for writing/compiling those "patches" (programs) you wish to keep for further tweaking/modification.
3. When you are finished with the first User bank and have moved those programs you want to keep over to the 2nd compilation bank, simply load new .syx files to the first bank overwriting the sounds you wish to discard.
It would be nice if we could audition one program (patch) at a time, but the process I've described above is a reasonable (possibly better) alternative given the host of DX files available.
Cheers,

another solution if you have only one free user bank (which is of good probability):
do EJ step n° 1
2/once you have a full bank of DX program, let's say User B ,
3/just save this bank as a pcg file.
4/load a blank bank in the User-B,
5/Go in disk mode, open the DX pcg you just saved, now you can can listen to each program from the hard drive.
you just have to load the one you like into the newly Blank user -B bank.
let's say that you have choosen 40 programs you like. save it like something "favDX.pcg" for favorite dx.pcg
repeat EJ step N°1, load 128 new dx patch in user B, this will overwrite the 40 program you've just choosen (but you don't care you saved them as favDX.pcg)
repeat from my step 2 un til you got a full DX bank sounds that you like.
it seems long and complicated, but no, i quite easy ) |

Excellent suggestions - they will really help, given the large number of programs available.
cheers,
Kevin. _________________ Kevin Nolan
