How to load the mod-7.

In the 1.3 update guide i see i have to load the mod-7.pcg file to use it in program user bank c, but on disk in the factory directory i see two files the other file is mod-7.kge.

What to do with this file, i dont want any problems after loading this one.

Do both files has to be loaded, so it is always there after startup ?

.kge I guess are the KARMA Generated Effects. You will see in the "Save dialog beside the programs, combinations, drumkits, wavesequences a new field with .kge. Maybe this is to be prepared for Stephen's software and your custome GEs.

For listening to the MOD-7 sounds only load the .pcg file. But I recommend to go to korguser.net and get the two additional banks... there are some very good sounds in it!

I don't understand this business about having to load the new VMOD 7
programs and the new user GE's (KGE file) from the factory folder.
Mine are loaded at startup into user C (programs) and User GE's A

Hi Rudolf,
When you installed OS 1.3, the MOD-7.pcg and .KGE were stored on your OASYS hard drive. You now need/should move the PCG and KGE to their respective user locations - PCG to User Bank C (it will auto load) and the KGE to the user GE locations. Make sure that when you do load the PCG that you also target the box beside KGE too. It's simple. See Stephen Kay's post here http://www.karma-lab.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10364

One caution: If you have any of your own or revised programs in User Bank C, you need to back them up to disk (HD or RDD) since MOD-7 programs will overwrite them. You need the KGE file loaded because some of the MOD-7 programs have been programmed with these new KARMA riffs (GEs).

Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Eric

Once you've loaded them once, they'll always appear until you change them - just like any other Programs.

Sorry about that. The initial version of the update guide neglected to mention the new KGE file. An updated version now does mention these. I'll post the update in a separate thread.

I guess somebody misunderstood:
I never, ever loaded manually the new programs plus KGE file from the
factory folder. Right after the install they were there in user C and user A (GE). In other words, I did not have to do anything to get these babies.

After I installed the new OS, my Program User Bank C was empty. After I loaded the MOD-7.pcg, I had Programs.

I didn't check the KGE data right after the OS install, but I assume there could be the possibility that the GEs were installed as part of OS 1.3.

IIRC Rudolf you mentioned having reformatting your Oasys disk somewhere and doing an install from scratch. That might explain the difference in behaviour you're observing.

I have been away for a while lots to catch up with. It's certainly all happening Wink
