|
|
After the update to 1.3 i can switch patches and banks without any problems when using directly the bank / select switches at the right side of the oasys or with the help from the numeric keypad
However if i select for instance Program user bank c the first patch : mod-7 e.piano and press the button on the leftside of the patchname in the screen layout which is going to show me the bank / program select page ( on the screen ) and will select an other patch sound U-c022 full organ play the patch no problems.
But now when i press the cancel button, the cancel button will not always directly answer but when the bank / program select page is leaved and come back in the basic main layout off the oasys with patch 000 mod-7 e.piano ( where i started ) the patch will temporary hang, the few patch cables in the screen disappear and come back again after a few seconds.
I do have the problems only when using the bank / program select view to temporary change the sound.
Can someone please confirm this, and how do i solve this problem...
Can i update with the same 1.3 update cd a second time without , or did i find a bug ? |

Hello,
I have the OS updated and the MOD-7 re-authorized, but I use my own combi/progs which at present do not include any MOD-7 patch.
I performed the same operations you made and "in my environment" what you describe does not happen.
Try to do the same starting from a HD-1, AL-1, LAC-1 patch, just to see if the phenomenon can be restricted to a MOD-7 patch only (starting from.....) _________________ http://www.dusk-eband.com |

I've looked at this now.
What's happening is that, as you select Programs in the popup window, you're selecting Programs just as if you would by using data entry, inc/dec etc. So, when you press Cancel, the system has to change back to the previous Program. USER-C 022 Full Organ is a double EXi Program. When you press Cancel, the Program Play page takes a moment to change from this to USER-C 001, which is a single EXi Program.
I believe that all you're seeing is the Play Page changing from showing the double Program to showing the single Program. It doesn't seem like a bug to me.

In the local control on mode not one problem.
Local control of :
==========
midi out connected to midi in with the same cable, to exclude possible problems with my external patchbay.
choose any sound to my choice with direct input by the nummeric keypad i do not have any problem.
going from patch program user c001 to c0022 and back gives no delay in playing the patches.
When i do the same within the help of the bank / program select page
starting program-user-c-001, call the bank/program select page and touch c022 playing no problem, then i touch the cancel button and all returns to the default c001 patch. The patch blocks for about 5 a 6 seconds.
Second test :
========
Connect the patchbay with only one in one out and do the same.
The moment i touch the cancel button, the midi in light on my patchbay glows up for 6 seconds, and the same moment all outputs light up for the same time on my patchbay. ( routed in number 1 to all 8 outs)
When all lights go out that is the moment that my patch c001 comes playable again on the oasys.
While trying this above i have got 3 system hangs. The system was hanging the moment i was trying to press the cancel button to go back to the basic patch.
The problem is not only related to the new mod-7 bank, it appears when using local control of and using the screen to select the sounds.
Question :
- how do i solve the problem ?
- i did understand till now it is not wise to install an older operating system ( i authorized the mod-7 already, but can i do a second 1.3update install without problems ?, and is there an option to go to default factory base parameters
The system never had any problem, the harddisk is still as retail delivered, and the 1.3 update is made from a boot cd without any difficulties.
addition :
======
in local of mode, beeing in the bank / program select page i can select every different sound after each other without any delay as long as i stay in this page , i can play all patches, when i go for the ok button instead of the cancel button, still patch c001 and c022 as an example direct returns to the starting patch without any problem and no blocking
When used the cancel button the patch blocks for about 6 sec.
Part of the screen parameters disappear for a two seconds and comes up again. It gives the impression that part of the screen has to be rewrtitten and all that time the system is blocked.
I do not agree with danatkorg that the normal time is 6 seconds blocking when using the cancel button to retrun from the bank/program select page to the standard main layout.

Interesting... someone posts an issue on this forum and gets a custom response direct from Korg in about an hour??? I work with sofware products that cost hundreds of thousands, plus an annual support contract, and we don't get anywhere near this level of service.
When you consider the value of the available support and the user community, the Oasys does not seem expensive at all. I only wish Korg would introduce a line of Business Intelligence software... |

Thank you for the additional details.
It appears that, when cancelling from a Program Change initiated from the popup menu, the OASYS sends out a large number of small system exclusive messages. This takes several seconds, and is what makes the light on your MIDI patchbay turn on. When the OASYS receives these messages, it waits a bit to process them - thus the delay.
At least in my cursory, intitial investigation, this appears to happen with all programs - HD-1 and EXi.
Sending all of the messages seems like a bug to me, although I'm not yet certain why it is happening. In the meantime, there are several workarounds. I understand that these are not perfect, but they do avoid the problem:
A. Disable Exclusive in the OASYS global MIDI filters
or
B. Disable SysEx patch-through in your computer system and/or patchbay
or
C. Wait a bit after pressing Cancel from the Program Select
We'll look into this, and I'll let you know any more information as it becomes available to me.

I don't think that this is a normal time, either. I didn't see such a long delay until you provided the very detailed description (thank you!) of how to reproduce the problem.
Best regards,

Hi All,
A follow-up: This is not a new problem with 1.3. The same issue happens with 1.2 as well (and probably earlier versions).

I did notice the delay not with the other Oeperating systems version. Maybe it was there, but on my system now it takes as i told you about 6 seconds. In my situation i did not took so many seconds. I am absolutely sure about that ( on my system )
When i try to play the patch within that 6 seconds quit a few times my system is going to hang.
When i look carefull to what is happening within that 6 seconds :
- Midi out continueing sending data.
- It looks like part of the screen layout are totally rewritten while sending midi data out for 6 seconds. That's with all patches, but the best it can been seen with patch c001 of the new mod module, because on my system within that 6 seconds a few patch cables in the screen layout disappear en come back after a few seconds.( local off and midi in and midi out connected ).The pacth cables in c001 do not disappear when local control is on. ( again in my sotuation )
But thank you DAN for confirming this little problem.
So i do not have to worry about, it will be fixed in the future.. |

Note that it's not the *sending,* but the *receiving* (due to loop-back) that causes the pause. I haven't seen the system crash yet in this case, but I'll keep trying.
