I don't know if I'm the only one.. but I find really "stupid" not to have a bank of combis and progs free, so that I can create my sounds without deleting other sounds. This is most important in programs, where deleting one can compromise a combination, and for sure we can't control every combi to find if one has that program. And it get me nervous to choose what cambi or progs have to depart to create space for my own sound.
Moreover, with user free bank, one can create in a simple way a sequence of sounds (not necessarily new) to be one-button-switched in live concert between two songs.
So.. is it technically possible to add a free bank of progs (an U bank, selecting it with a combination of buttons) and a free U bank of combi changing only something in the OS?
For me it would be a very VERY appreciated update.
I hope so..

Andrea
I think it's a matter of hardware limitations, because the TR project is limited "per se"... By the way, there's no Bank E button, thus you wouldn't be able to select other Programs.
On the other hand, there are so many stupid and useless Program and Combinations you can erase and substitute with other ones you like.
Thus it's only a matter of organization that's in a word impossibile without a good editor librarian.
A good move from Korg would be giving TR users an Editor/Librarian running under Win and MacOSX.
Who well starts it's only half work done. _________________ Life without music would be a mistake |

the ironic thing is that the editor already exist, is the one for the X50.. which sound engine is identical to the TR except for the sequencer. But doesn't work with the X50..

To be more clear. If I play live, I nead to switch very rapidly in a sequence of combinations (i.e. with the switch pedal), combis that have to be in the correct order. If I have SIMPLE and NO-COST few kb for an empty User bank of combis this would be straightforward and simple. In absence of this, one have to reorganize totally the combies, because maybe it need some preset combies that falls in the middle of the space in which he organizes his combi.
But then maybe I need to do my own program to use it in my combi.. but if I am without free banks I have to cancel another program which maybe is used in a combi I may want to use.. or have to reorganize programs, but if I change place of a program maybe a combi can sound wrong.
It would be a challenge with a pc librarian (non-existent); within the TR is frustrating if not impossible..
.. This is not pro! (in the 2007 I mean, when memory costs "nothing"..)
Ex-my Casio very cheap arranger (more than ten years ago) has free places for sounds! _________________ Kurzweil PC361

Buy a higher end synth or get an editor. I, personally, don't use presets. Most of them don't suit my needs. _________________ DEVICE - CLICK HERE!

why don't use a SD card??? I use one and I have mi "LIVE" sounds (all sounds programed in order to switch them with a pedal), also my "OWN" sounds, and "DEFAULT": the original sounds from korg TR. I wrote these 3 to the SD card because you can manipulate each sound individually, so If I want a specific sound that I erased because I was playing live, I choose that sound from the DEFAUT and overwrite it, for example.
That is a good way to keep all you sounds saved on a SD card without overwriting sounds that you like, also I have a backup on my PC.
See ya (sry for my english hahaha) _________________ Korg TR |

Good job. I was just kidding, but hey.....
I do still recommend an editor to all TR users. I use TR Sound Edit Pro by Soundtower. _________________ DEVICE - CLICK HERE!
