Is there anyway I can use the R3's synths and the ESX-1's drums and produce a song using the ESX? I plugged some midi cables in and all I can do is make one control the other, and that's not what i want.
Basically, I just want to record the R3 on the ESX-1. I want to still be using the R3 to play all the synth parts, and just play the esx-1 for the drums (&recording, etc..). |

esx can't record long samples... you can't just play different parts and record with esx and mix them and have a song it doesn't work that way.... if this is what you want you'll need a different kind of sampler like the shitty sp404 for example. |

ah, I'm very interested in this as well since just like you, I have an ESX-1 and an R3.
although I just got my ESX and haven't done much on it yet, I'm thinking sampling a few 2 bar melodies from the R3 and arranging them in a pattern shouldn't be a problem. should it? |

do you want to record the r3 as a sample or do you want the esx to control the r3 live?

just hook the r3 into the esx in and record the sample of you playing then edit it down to the right length
and give it an appropriate stretch length
and you can do exactly what you want no problem
there is a good sample editing tutorial on this forum somewhere |

Yeah, I want to sample a melody that i played on my R3 (using the R3's synth sounds), and then arrange them on the esx. |

run a cable from the r3 output to the esx audio in
then follow the instructions in the manual |
