I recently bought a Roland SH-201 Synth and have an EMX-1 .. Thus far i haven't had the tow play at same time and its about time i do.

I have a computer, Getting reason tomorrow, and 2 midi cables ..

i figured id get 2 in case but i think i only need 1?

Should i route it MIDI Out on electibe to MIDI In on my synth and then what? it only plays my synth pad #1 on the emx at low volume .. do i need to connect the USB Stuff to use MIDI? Or can it be done with just the synth and EMX? Im a little confused any help will do! Thanks!

well first of all. don't buy reason, buy ableton live 7.... second depends on what you will be doing with the computer. if you want to also sync up the computer, then send midi out from electribe to midi in of the synth, and midi through of the synth to the computer(you might need a midi interface at this point).

now if your synth does not have a midi through out, then rounte from electribe out to computer in and then from computer out to synth in but you'll have to somehow use either reason, a bleton or something like midi yoke to pass the midi clock to the synth.

like I said, what do you want to do with it? how do you want to use the synth relative to the electribe and to the computer?

are you gonna play side b y side with electribe and just have all the lfo's synced up? or are you gonna use the computer to sequence both teh synth and the electribe? are you gonna sequence the computer and the synth with the electribe? Do you want to use the keyboard simply as a midi controller for pc or electribe? you have to be more specific, give us what you want to do and we'll help you do it but saying.... hey I have flour and sugar, how should I use them together is a very general question.
