Oh, I forgot to tell you...
I would like to hear more wah-wah on the starting clavinet, I'm sure it should give more funky-feeling to the beginning.
But I must say I like the way you blended slap-bass and piano sound with that clavinet, it should not have been easy!

Regards

Thank you all for the kind remarks. I am looking over the song today to determine what kinds of improvements need to come out. I will particularly listen to the beat around 1:31 and decide what needs to happen.

I must have tunnel vision because it is not very clear to me what the drums need to do differently there.

But I am diligent. More waw on the clav? Maybe. We will see what I can get from it.

Jon

Yes, forgive me Embarassed
I'm a wah-addicted on the clavinet sound, I love it so much!
The autowah is a good way to enjoy dynamics changing your sound, I would give it a try!

Hi Jon

FINALLY I have listened to your song! And as usual it is very impressive in every way. Great melody, lovely harmonies......like when you sing "dying", "crying" and "crazy".....

You also do some really creative things with the rhythm of your lyrics...let me see where was it........ "one way ticket".....very cool.

I'm quite interested in the wah-wah issue and the blended slap bass, piano and clavinet. What is wah? or should I say wah-wah? and auto-wah? what does Diego mean about dynamics changing the sound? I can hear the clav but don't know how it's wah-ing.

Another really good one, Jon!

Sorry Dee I do not know how I missed your questions!

Thanks for the listen.

Wah is an effect that mimics that very sound you just made by saying the word "wah". It is basically a filter effect that opens and closes the higher end of the sonics of a sound while adding some resonance to it as it moves.

Funky guitars are where you hear it the most. Think of any 70's funk and instantly you can hear wah. Additionally it is featured in a majority of guitar solos in rock, though not as pronounced.

By dynamics Diego was referring to "motion" of a sound in our songs. Many keyboard songs, piano songs included don't have a lot of options for realtime manipulation of the sounds or notes, say the way a guitarist can bend notes or get harmonics from strings or saxophonist can bend notes or make the sound breathier or smoother, to a downright crunch. That is why those sounds are so hard to emulate straight from a keyboard.

With a wah effect attached, it adds some "breath" if you will, to the sound.

Someone else may be more eloquent with a description than I but that is it in a nutshell.

Jon

Thanks Jon, for another excellent explanation!

You put it very clearly and I have added it to my collection.

I know the sort of sound you mean now, have been listening to some things here and there and can hear the wah.

Now have to learn to use it.....waaaaaaaah!! (the kind of wah I make)
