Take a listen to the demo here of World Winds

http://www.ilio.com/ilio/worldwinds/index.htm#

It's in AKAI format and the OASYS loads it quite well indeed. This is one of my favourite titles and I've used it quite a lot over the years.

Regards.
Sharp.

Hi Sharp,
Could you explain further how you load these into your OASYS. Would you recommend loading into the OASYS rather than computer playback utility. Do the articulations load as well?
Cheers,
Eric

Hi Eric.

OS 2.0 for the Triton Studio was the first OS to support Advanced AKAI Reading, and since the OASYS also supports this, then it reads the AKAI CD's almost as good as a real AKAI Sampler too.

Basically instead of selecting the actual AKAI files, you select the folder and touch the tab in the top right of the screen. Then you get to see the Advanced AKAI loading option.

Which basically makes the OASYS load the entire folder and it generates Program and COMBI sounds as necessary. All perfectly intact with filter information too.

I use quite a lot of AKAI titles on the OASYS. They are the core of my sound actually, and the OASYS loads them beautifully.

The end result is no different providing your using software that can read AKAI Multi's. Most software can't, so that's something to watch out for.

Yes, the OASYS will load them into programs, and group them in COMBI sounds.

Thanks for that, Sharp. I'll remember that. Sure would be nice if our next EXi or EXs from Korg gives us a decent bank of World/Ethnic sounds. However, your suggestion looks like a good candidate for now.
Cheers,
Eric

Sharp,

I bought the ILIO pianos in AKAI format when I first got the Oasys, but had trouble loading it. I called Ilio at the time and they said that they didn't support the Oasys and I was on my own.

So I put it on the shelf and forgot about it.

Since you indicated that it was easy to download, perhaps you wouldn't mind sharing the dowload procedure.

Much appreciated.

If I can get this to work, I would definitely buy many of their other samples.

Thanks.

Hi newguy.

If you don't go through loading the AKAI data with the “Advanced AKAI” loading method, then yeah, loading will be very hit and miss. If you do however use the Advanced loading, then it will load the data extremely well.

Select your first partition, open it, and then touch the first folder you see. DO NOT open the folder, instead touch the tab in the top right of the screen to access the drop down menu.

From here you can then select the advanced akai loading method.

Regards.
Sharp.

Sharp,

I have a greytsounds cd for Akai S1000 labled "the best of everything".

I have tried to load this before but with limited success (no sample names appeared). Anyhow, I just tried the procedure you mentioned with out success. I open the first partition and then select a folder and then open the right hand corner drop down list and there is nothing within that list that says "advanced Akai loading ".

The menu items I see are "hide unknown files", "translation", "lock/unlock folder", "load selected", and "load pcg Ram and samples". Only "hide", "Translation", and "load selected" were active. the other choices were greyed out.

I had tried selecting translation before but still didn't get sample names displayed. The samples loaded but without names.

Am I doing something wrong? I certainly am not getting the same results you are.

I'm using OS 1.3.1 on an O 88

Ken
