Hi,

After some deliberation and help from this and the clonewheel forum I've decided I want to order a CX3. However I need to order it from the US as it is no longer sold in Europe.

My question: Is the CX3's internal power supply auto-switching?

The manual only says this:

Quote:

Power supply
AC Local voltage

I find that ambiguous at best. Does it mean that each region has the power supply pre-switched to take that regions voltage or is it auto-sensing? I can't tell. Hope someone can give me an authoritative answer on this one as I don't want to fry my CX3 on first power up by feeding it 230 volts.

P.S. If it is pre-wired for one specific voltage I would like to know if and how it can be switched internally. I'm an electrical engineer so I would have no problem opening it up to change the voltage.

I have learned from some people over at the tonewheel forum that the CX3 is not auto-switching. Guess it uses an old-fashioned transformer.

Is there a service manual available for the CX3?

I'd like to know if the internal transformer can be re-wired for 220V operation or if I'd have to completely replace it.

I know I could use an external 220->110 converter but I'd prefer a more permanent solution. I know that will void my warranty but since I'd probably have to ship it back to the US for warranty claims it probably wouldn't matter since the shipping cost is rather high (US$160 one-way).
