Did you get any spikes in DPC? Would be interesting to see a screengrab.
Mine were like this:
(XP-32)
and
(Vista-64)
Which were unusable until I used the the DPC program to locate the causes.
Finally finished with these values:
(XP-32)
and
(Vista-64)
My problems were caused by a particular BIOS version (we had to lobby the company, Gigabyte, to address the issue). Further optimisations were disabling my CD/DVD drive, anti-virus, and using a wired PS/2 mouse instead of a wireless USB mouse. I didn't use WiFi internet so had that disabled by default.
But Vista-64 still randomly created spikes, which rendered the OS unusable when tracking audio at low ASIO latencies for me.
It's a great program to see in realtime if various changes (enabling/disabling aspects) eliminate 'interrupt' problems in order to find a cause, rather than lunging at it blindly. _________________ [Free Moss Set For All Workstations With Moss Expansion]

Hi Timo,
As they say "you are never too old to stop learning" and the DPC Latency Checker is a great tip which I will add to my arsenal of PC diagnostics. Thank you!! |

Hi Timo.
Sorry I didn't get any screen shots of it while I had it running. There where no peaks, and it maxed out at 350, so it's not related to anything else running in the background.
I've just created the new partition on my C Drive in preparation for XP, so I'll know in the next hour if Vista has been the cause of all my problems. If not, I'm screwed as there is nothing else left to try.
Regards.
Sharp. |
