Hi!

I hope you don't mind if I post this one calling it "Bonus Track", as I've done it during october and I feel it's part of my OSAM concept, which is "experiment, experiment and experiment" Very Happy
An Alto of my vocal group turned 18 on Nov, 2nd; she sing with me from 6 years, and as it was a special day for her (in Italy you turn adult ad 18, not at 16 like in USA) I wanted to give her a special musical-present, in the form I'm sure she like.

I did a similar version for a friend who is a choir conductor http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/224179/tantiAuguri.mp3, but this one is quite different: I did new vocal harmonies, and I recorded it in a complete different way...
Let me know what you think, and if you want I can give you the score, and all the detail you need.

Regards

Thanks a lot Dee!
All these voices "are" just me Laughing
I wrote the first part so it can be sung all in my own octave.
The second one is in "falsetto" for the soprano voice, as it was too high for me with the natural voice, but I'm quite satisfacted for the result, as it's the first experiment I do!

I think it is amazing the huge chords and harmonies you manage out of such a simple song. You have a fantastic ear for harmony.

Reminds me of another friend in Italy, Lord Bygon (Beppe). He had these fantastic chordal arrangements with his vocals. I think he felt Donald Fagen was his father, ha ha!

Great stuff man.

Thanks a lot guys!
I appreciate your comments.

Jon, you told me about Lord Bygon, but unfortunatly I don't know him.
I'll have to listen to Donald Fagen, too, as I never heard him.

Nice vocals man! I was not blessed with such a voice.

This is refreshing as vocal arrangements like that are just not in pop music, and not even here on OSAM.

Thanx for sharing - it was a treat!

Very cool Diego, and fun to listen to. So many vocal layers and a great arrangement.
Well done, I'm sure she will like it!

Yes, she liked it a lot!
You're right, there are 14 vocal layers.
The arrangment is written for 5 voices (S, A, T, B and Solo), but every voice has been recorded twice, and panned full L and full R.
As my falsetto voice is so poor, I recorded Sopranos 4 times...
So, 4S + 2A + 2T + 2B + 2Solo = 14 vocal tracks.
I feel that the sound is so full, I enjoied a lot this "new" recording tecnique.

Thanks a lot for your comment

Do you record vocals in the same way, Jon?

I found it a good challenge, because you have to look to precision in tuning and tempo to make the two tracks as equal as possible...I think it's very very important to record ourself to get better and better.
I learned this trick from Cluster, the vocal group I talked about in a previous post... I think the sound in this way is much more rich and powerfull...

Thanks a lot,
regards
