Very impressed with the M50 61 I tried out yesterday and thinking of going for the 88.

Couldn't try the M50 88 itself but played an SP250 in the store which had a superb action. Can anyone confirm that this is the same keybed as used on the M50 88?

Don't know about the SP250, but I just got back from GC where I played an M50 88 for over an hour -- and I can tell you that the keybed felt superb. I don't think you can go wrong with it (unless you cannot bear to play without aftertouch).

I also don't know about the SP250, but I checked out an M50 yesterday and thought the action was very good - a lot like my Yamaha P140, which I just love. If the acoustic piano sounds were better I would consider replacing my P140 but they don't come close...oh well.

That's good news about the action - I like the better Yamaha actions too.

Can't agree on the acoustic piano sounds though. To me the M50 pianos sounded live and dynamic, and there are a wide range of them including a mono piano for live work (which is mainly what I need)

I guess my alternative choice would be a Yamaha S90ES but Yamaha pianos are generally not good at "cutting through" in a live band setup - still a great piece of kit though!
