Hi,
I barely made it before the deadline..its a musical exercise rather than a finished song. I have been practicing some groovey keyboard patterns with my music teacher. This short song is the result of my recent experiments:

I'm glad its done because I really feel like getting back to the "base" i.e. proper electronica. There will be no real world sounds in my December tune lol..

Hi sewa,
Nice groove and funky sound. Is that you playing your new bass? (nice clean sound man!) You must have gotten your sound card working again.
The overall sound quality is crisp clean and punchy - especially the drums.
This is might make a nice short interlude between tunes on a CD.

Hi Art,
I followed your advice and bought a beefier audio interface - Motu 828 mk II As for the bass - that's motif ES. I might replace that part with a real thing at some point but for now I'll be concentrating on December tune.
cheers
sewa
P.S. I have downloaded couple of your tunes recently. I think "aspace" is my favourite so far. Your recordings are very, very clean although the bass is on the heavy side. It challanges my hi fi speakers which is unusual |

I really like that clav effect, very smooth yet funky. The bass has a nice feel in that it leads the beat and propels along what is otherwise a slow/smooth vibe. Your stuff is always so clean and well executed. While this isn't a fully fleshed out song as you said, it is none the less a very cool vibe that is quite pleasant on the ears. You seem to be learning quite a few useful techniques. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Yea the Megavoices in Yamaha are pretty cool. That bass sounds like the one in my MO6. I like the clav too...also yamaha yes?
Great funky feel, and a touch of blues along with it. Stephen could get a hold of this and solo the heck out of it! But I like what you have done, and glad to see you branch off the beaten path a bit. _________________ Jon Solo

not at all, I'd love to see what comes out of it!!
Thanks for the kind comments guys. Yes, all of the sounds come from Yamaha. It was a fun exercise but also a difficult one. Synchronizing both hands with a beat is quite challanging, especially with funky grooves where rythm is everything.
Looking forward to hearing your work Stephen!

Motu 828 mk II - Awesome! I am jealous - looks much more upscale than my EMU!
Yes - ASpace is heavy on the bottom end - all Karma on the TS - I was learning a lot in those days, Karma was totally new and I was experimenting big time.
Cheers,

Hi Sewa
Sounds like you had fun with this. I had a day of totally no inspiration - so thought I would catch up on my Osam listening, and yours is my first.
I love the way you have set up some layers, and the playful, almost funny clav sound.
Very cool indeed - am already feeling inspired,
Regards from

This is a little different, more organic than your usual style.
A really catchy groove.
This has so much jamming potential, it could be looping for hours with different leads and other parts dropping in and out.
Like the pad/strings that come in too, a nice backdrop for the end section.
Cool playing, love that clav! _________________ Chordial |

Hello Sewa....indeed,
This has a really good feel overall for me...with a lot of interest in the bass...I found the levels lower than usual...but of course its just a twist to bring it up...
The note style is quite nice for this, with a detachment that is very pleasing....almost a staccato feel at times..
The soft background sound is also very nice , particularly at the fade...
Nice!! Thanks!
Best Regards!! John, (ellll) |

Once again you've got a good thing going on.. Nice chill groove. This just proves you're on it. It's really different from the analog/VA sounding pieces but just as good. Good job.
