|
|
Got a bit of a problem. I can't update to the latest OS version. I did the 1.05 ok, no problems there but, since then I have obtained two new 2gb memory cards. Neither will work in the M50. One is a Kingston and the other a Sandisk. Both work fine on the PC but the M50 says they are unformatted and yet won't let me format them. Says it can't read the media.
If I put the M50SYS folder on the card and try to update I just get a path not found error.
Anyone know why this problem is occurring ?
Thanks _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

What filing system did you format the cards to ... NTFS, UDF, FAT32, FAT16...?.
I don't know what the M3 requires, but I do know for example that my OASYS only likes FAT 16 or FAT32. So I use FAT 32 and I don't use the Quick Format option.
Might be worth looking at your manual to see what the M3 likes best and then full format the card to that filing system
Regards.

I had a similar issue with a card. Are you positive they are "SD" cards? They can NOT be the SDHC cards! They will NOT work.
What I did was cleared the SD card on my PC, a low level DOS format. ANd I rebooted my M50, one of the things worked, which, I'm not sure.
Try rebooting the M50.
Are the other cards you have working?
Let us know how things turn out.

Thanks guys. Yes they are SD cards. I sell them so no mistakes there I had already formatted both cards to FAT16, also tried FAT32 but no difference.
Have tried all the usual things like rebooting etc.
Must be something wrong in the M50 if it says the cards are not formatted but then won't let me format them?
I'll try setting back to factory defaults and see if that makes a difference. _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

Well I have tried everything now. I seem to be stuck. The M50 just wont see any cards
Have tried the reinitialize and reload of data but again when I try and format it just says "error reading data".
The cards are ok...have tried 4 now and they all read and work fine on the pc. So...not sure what else I can do _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

Ok got it sorted. I had to push the card in and hold it against the spring pressure for it to be recognised. Perhaps it's a problem with the card slot? I vaguely remember someone else having a similar problem.
At least I managed to format the card and perform the update. Still, can't be holding the card in every time I want to load something _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

Y.F,
I had a similar experience today with my M50,with regard to the insertion of the SD card...I had to fiddle with it a bit,in order to encompass how to get it to take, but it was no real problem..being that I was accustomed to how the other format cards wre inserted into my Triton EX.

Well it seems like a minor thing but really it should not be happening. I'll do some more tests but if it's a case where the only way to read or write to a card is to physically press and hold it into the slot I will get my M50 exchanged. _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

Hi Mike. I did drop you a line about this but thanks again for the super quick response and yes it all seems to be fine now. I have tried it with the same set of cards it would not read before and they are all now recognized _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |
