'
Hello to everyone: this is my first post on this forum, so please be gentle with me & bear this in mind!

I have just acquired an M50-88 & so far I am delighted with it!

Now: I'm sorry if this is an obvious question, or if an answer has already been posted elsewhere, but I've looked around the site & the manual,
and I couldn't find anything - it's probably right under my nose !

My question is this -

During the course of a set (or just general use in rehearsal / at home etc) I may use about 20 to 25 'stock' sounds, e.g. -
4 or 5 organs, 4 or 5 pianos, strings, pads, choral, synth lead & so-on.

Is there a way of re-organising the order in which the voices appear in the menu-list so that all my 'favourites' appear a the top of the list
in the banks A to E ?... ie: my favourite 5 piano sounds appear in slots 1-5 in bank A, my favourite 5 organ sounds are 1 -5 in bank B, etc etc.

I would also like to be able to organise likewise in the 'catagory select' menu.

I'm not talking about a cue-list for particular songs -
just 'grouping' my most often-used voices adjacent to each other so I don't have fly from one end of the menu to the other,
then try to find something tucked away in the middle somewhere.

I hope I've made my requirements clear, and if any of you good people are kind enough to provide an answer,
could I ask, with respect, that you please try to avoid confusing me with mega-technical jargon & the like?
I don't wish to appear rude, but I've seen some forums where certain members just seem to want to show how clever
they are, rather than giving a simple, straight-forward answer!

Thanks in advance!

John.

Hi.
I believe you can create your own patch/performance category (not to be confused with bank), and then save the new chosen patches/performances tagged with this category. Then you could just click on the category on the main display and choose your own category.

Another way is to save your patches/performances into a separate bank.

I don't think it's possible to put something into two categories, like putting a piano into both piano and your favourite category. That's why you need to resave the patch/performance into a new place (duplicating it).

Good point that, I struggle to remember where all my faves are unless i write em down....even alphabetical order would be better than nothing, thats assuming I can remember the name of the prog/combi.

im hoping to get my M50 over the next couple of weeks if i sell my karma for enough.

For live play, I've created a category called "STAGE" and sub categories called piano, organ, guitars etc.

It then doesn't matter where the patches are stored you can still pull them up quickly via categories.

Hi FifthElement, this sounds as though it's the type of thing I had in mind -
could you point out where I could find how to do this (is it in the manual?)

Just press "GLOBAL"
PAGE SELECT
CATEGORY

Then use one of the spare user slots and give it your own text name. Make sure you "save global setting" so the M50 remembers the new category.

You can do this for Programs and Combi individually with as many sub categories as you want.

If your trying not to use the touch screen, then over-write existing combis/programs.

To save even more time, write then across the same number, but different banks for the same song (this will give you 4 combis & 5 programs at the press of one button.

Hi again, I'd like to thank you guys for the info so far.

Wouldn't you just know it, but due to having my entire house re-carpeted

a week earlier than they said they were coming, I've not been able to get

on the keyboard since I posted the question!

It will, of course, be the first thing I do as soon as I'm straight again

and I'll let you know how I get on.

In the meanwhile any more tips would be gratefully accepted!

Thanks again.

John.
