I am currently investigating the purchase of a used M-3. Are there currently any units that have been sold that I should avoid? How would I determine this; i.e. by a serial number range?
Thank you.

I'm not aware of any serial number ranges or any particular date range to avoid. Since they can all be updated to the Expanded version, you're guaranteed to have the latest and greatest version. I don't believe they have had any hardware changes with the exception of a larger internal SD card in some countries, NO hardware changes in the U.S.

As long as it's in good condition and at a good price, I would go for it.

I agree with McHale, however as an owner/user myself i highly suggest you bring a usb 2.0 memory card (or try and get the seller to throw the one he must have used on it in.... Wink ) and test it out by reading up a little and making sure you can save/load files onto and off of the external media. PM me if you want a more detailed explaination (reallly really easy to do) of how to do a couple of the basic processes' on it. Also, i have the 61 key version but i wish i had one of the ones with more keys on it so use that to talk them down on price...hahah. But ya, DEFINITELY make sure you're getting a working model by saving & loading a couple things on it.

Probably you should avoid mine Razz Its touchscreen is gone somewhat crazy and so far I wasn't able to get any help from our local korg dealer (he states korg doesn't replay on his requests) nor here on forum from korg insider people Crying or Very sad although it is still under warranty. But by now I'm not going to sell it anyway - in worst case I obviously have to buy new touchscreen which, I guess, costs nearly half of new m3 price. Actually the message I wanted to say is - you should avoid secondhand korg if you are outside us, because korg support in smaller markets is horrribly terrrrrible.

I'm considering selling my M3, it has the Ram upgrade installed, I have all the new OS upgrades on a memory stick, which I would include, and it works perfectly.
PM me if interested, I'm in Illinois, USA.

Thanks everyone for your responses. That's very helpful. Steve; I viewed your studio web site and saw that your keyboard is a 73 key. The one I am considering is an 88 and I believe I can get it for around $1700. Thanks anyway.
Thanks,
Steve

Stephen, if the price is right, I'd take your M3. I'm also in IL.

Hi McHale,
What do you consider a "right price"?
Btw, we've met, at the GC in P town.
