|

I am looking to figure out how to add events to my tracks in Cubase so I can make an effect some in and then go away without making an entire new audio track with a seperate waveform.
Also, I am using some midi instruments and they don't fade properly at the end of the track, creating an abrupt stop. How can I make these midi instruments fade out at the end? |

I'm using cubase 5. You could click on a midi track and then click MIDI then click on the first drop down menu item "KEY EDITOR". Once it is open, you will see your notes then way at the bottom... the velocity (volume) you can drag them down to create your fade out. I don't know to much about midi but that's how I do it.
Now for the first question, you probably want to do midi effects without converting to audio. Anybody can correct me if i'm wrong but the only way you can do that is if you have effects turned on in the midi keyboard or use the midi insert... I'm not sure
But here's another idea: Convert your midi tracks into Instrument tracks.
You can create an instrument track the same way you create auido or midi but select INSTRUMENT TRACK. Then drag the midi notes from the midi track to the Instrument track. Right click on the instrument channel and select APPLY TRACK PRESET. Then select the different effects from the instruments you have.
If you are loading (importing) midi files into cubase. Go to FILE then PREFERENCES then scroll to the MIDI section and select the submenu MIDI FILE and then on the right at the bottom, make sure IMPORT TO INSTRUMENT TRACK is checked. Now your midi tracks will be imported into instrument tracks when you import a midi file.
Hope that helps! _________________ For the glory of God and for the Salvation of the world. |

It's me again... You can also (just remembered) press F11 then experiment with the different vst instruments. Try Halion or something else then click on the track you want to use and on the left for the midi out choose that vst that you have selected from the VST nstruments (F11)
Click on the "e" to open its window and then tweak the different knobs for the effects you want etc... let me know if that helps. _________________ For the glory of God and for the Salvation of the world. |
