Chapter I

Somewhere in the darkrness of space, a little bright spot increased abruptly announcing that something was returning from the hyperspace. When the shining ceased, in its place materialized a black battleship that never was seen before but almost every one have heard of: the first Kronos!

At the same moment, the intrusion alarm systems on every ship in the same sector announced the incomming and begann to scan all possible data about it. Around the orbit of the little planet in that sector, the battle had gone almost for years without any remarkable changes in history except for the goal they all had: the control over the synth universe and specially over planet Karma. Karma was dominated several years by the Korgians, who had an impressive fleet of starships stationed in Karma like the M3's, M50's, Tritons and the powerfull Oasys.
But recently the Yammis reached to infiltrate that domination with their latest generations of Motifs which lead them to take partially control of the outer orbits of Karma.
But not only Karma was the goal of this battle and not only the Korgs and Yammis were involved. There also were the Rolanders, Kurz's and many other strong breeds which had fought aginst or with others, trying to emerge and/or sustain their "territories" in space.

All efforts to achieve a relaxation between the different breeds never reached satisfactory levels and even inside themselves the conflicts were hard to settle. Latest reports were that the Oasys commanders had blamed their imperium to have abandoned them with their support with upgrades and expansions in preference of the development of the Kronos. Precisely the last years showed none or very poor advances in new technologies, most of it relaying in older concepts from the very beginning of the so called "synth history". A lot of parallel battles were now fought specially in virtual dimensions with the hope to get more control over this universe with lower need of material resources. Standard commercial ships powered with lots of VSTs were used massively by independent or smaller breeds to face the established "Imperials" and secure and defend their own reigns in which they have been very successfull. But even if the entire universe was involved, a kind of staticness has reigned over the last years, until the first rumours about Kronos were spread.

Despite the good espionage services every force was proud of, the Korgians managed to keep the secret about Kronos very well, what surprised the Yammis, Rolanders and all the others. It is suspected that the Korgians have had misleaded the attention to their Oasys series which was the normal development everyone expected to be done and so it was the Korgians themselves who announced their new battleship.

This facts created a big conmotion in all the available communication channels. The Korgian channels were full of wishes, requirements and must-haves and speculated about the most incredible features in such a degree that some of them got partially overloaded. A lot of infiltrations into and from the enemies channels were registered and still continue. It is assumed that the main intention is to distort any valuable information about Kronos. Even rumours about the deployment of the highly feared Low Orbit Ion Cannons (LOIC's) against this or that channel were heard, what is the best indicator that this conflict is reaching its peak.

But even inside each force there was sometimes disapointment against the upper circles, specially the Oasys commanders which felt abandoned at all convinced that they were who really maintained the supremacy of the Korgians and would become the ultimative weapon to warrant Korgians supremacy, but general opinion is that possible internal rebellions will settle down once the Kronos enters in action.

Now after the first Kronos has materialized and made the first practice demonstrations with its new weapon, the 9-dimensional-wave-cannon, and while the whole Kronos armada emerges from hyperspace, the last but tedious final approach lays before them: The physical space/time distortion that forces every ship to go through after its materialization, best known as the "delivery gap". This gap will give enough time to rise even more the speculations, expectations and fears, in such a way that actually the coming Terra/Frankfurt Summit which is to be held in some weeks is expected to be one of the hottest since many years. Even if it is expected that the Yammis, Rolanders, Kurz's and all other numerous breeds won't have a big highlight against the Kronos, the general expectations are very high and the main headline that will be heard until then is: "The war has changed!"
