True, this thread should be moved.
If Creative where to reanimate Ensoniq, it would be neat to see a soft synth that combined the Ensoniq Fizmo with the E-MU Morpheus. Everything else that those companies have done, while very important for the evolution of modern synths, was largely rompler/sampler-oriented, IIRC. That wouldn't be very interesting now. _________________ Kronos 61, Kronos2-88, Hammond B3, Baldwin SD-10 |

I'd like to see Ensoniq return, independent of Creative, with a new keyboard containing multiple synthesis engines and their own version of KARMA.
Or... I could just buy a KRONOS. _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |

I'd like to see Superman save Metropolis from people who joined the forum yesterday and kicked off their first post with an absurdist, irrelevant thread - solely for the purpose, it seems, of sowing doubt as to whether to buy a new Korg product. _________________ KORG Kronos2-61, Yamaha Motif ES6, KORG Minilogue, Farfisa VIP233, Axiom 49, BOSS RT-20, Neo Ventilator

Meh. It's an open forum.
I'm still getting a KRONOS.

You've got to love the Internet... I saw that one announcement about 8 months ago, and then nothing else. The above quoted video is just some guy telling his personal opinion on the matter - he has nothing to do with anything. And he really doesn't even know what he's talking about...
None of the design/development team that I know, and still talk to a few times a year are involved with Creative. So if something gonna happen it's just going to be new people pulling up the brand name and making "something". It won't be the spirit and personality of Ensoniq. It's sad when a brand you were part of is sold off, killed, and then "reanimated". Reminds me of this cult/cheezy horror flick:

RE-ANIMATOR?!?
RE-ANIMATOR ?!?
JerryK (he was the vice-president at the Swiss unit of Korg) says there's a new Creative Synth named the Re-Animator (you know: Creative just bought Ensoniq. AND Yamaha!)
Is it a new synth?
A new workstation ?!?
I am excited!!!
I want one!
I want two!!!
They say it's a double-keyboard 88 unweighted VA synth with wavetables and real analogue filters!!!
Arf arf!!!
I already booked one!!!
I can't wait for it!
When do they ship it?
How happens it's not been shipped yet?
Boy I hate these people... they make fun of us... |

I loved my ESQ-1.
I had a lot of respect for Ensoniq back in the day.

Sometimes I miss my ZR-76.
76-weighted keys E-G, great keyboard. The perfect piano sounds where also ok what I can remember.
Some other good sounds as well but very poor functionality for live performing.
I sold it to buy my Kurzweil K2500X, and I don't want to change back but I still miss the ZR sometimes

Still got mine A truly underrated synth (that said, mine has been in storage for at least 10 years... Had the foresight to remove the failing internal battery though). _________________ CURRENT GEAR: A yellowing Casio PT-80, 4 leaking batteries and some broken headphones.
WISHLIST: A PSU and some different headphones. |

+1000!
What a wonderful year could be 2011!
|
And it would be even better if Ensoniq re-issued the FIZMO, preferably the FIZMO rack
(updated with an LCD screen and more patch memory)
... or if Korg could license the Ensoniq 2nd generation Transwaves of the FIZMO and put them into the wave sequencing engine of their Kronos
