You could earn the money by playing and singing "Jump" 100 times at a Korg VIP event with your Prophet 08, and get 100$ payed for each time less.
Not that we musicians couldn't make fast money by being creative... |

Now if only could get a gig at a korg VIP party,
when everybody is drunk enough, I'd have the rumour spread around, that there's a "the hardest nipple" contest going on,
entrance fee 100 bucks,
I'll be happy to collct and see what a bunch of drunken engineers can do with 46 knobs.
The day after, 15 minutes cleaning the panel,
and not only the prophet will have paid for itself,
it would have earned me a kronos 88. |

hmmm, been asking some more in the UK about speculative prices, and 2 retailers have stated between £3-4K from 61-88 key....
Even @ £3k, I don't know whether I can justify the Kronos - especially over the M3 & Legacy software.....
Will be intrigued when they FINALLY let the cat out of the bag on the price. _________________ Yamaha SY77 & KX88, SSL Nucleus, Korg Kronos 61, Wavestation A/D, Access Virus B, Roland XP30, DeepMind12D, System 1m, V-Synth XT, Focusrite Red16Line, Unitor 8, Akai S3000 XL, Alesis Quadraverb+, Focal Shape Twins, Full fat iMac, Logic Pro X, ProTools 2021, loadsa plugins.

I just did some research comparing US prices to european prices for Korg equipment. What I found is that in almost all cases the european price (e) can be calculated from the US price (u) by
e = R * u * 1.2
where R is the current exchange rate. Using this formula I get the following retail prices for the Kronos
61 keys: 2633 Euro
73 keys: 3071 Euro
88 keys: 3335 Euro
which is just a little more than the Motif XF prices I'm very confident that my prediction will turn out to be true... |

Although the formula is a straightforward way to get European prices it offers in no way any certainty for a pricepoint.
Firstly the exchange rate of the Euro has fluctuated a lot and so I doubt very much that KORG will use yesterday's value of the Euro compared to the dollar, and secondly, companies may have their own reason for deviating from this formula.
For instance, if you look at the Avid Oxygen 88 controller with a price point of almost $600 in the USA, then the European price based on the formula would be around 530 Euros.
However, shops in Europe charge a price of around 650 Euros, 120 Euros more. In Europe the Oxygen 88 is way overpriced.
If KORG would do the same with the KRONOS we would arrive at a price point of around 4000 Euros for the 88 key version.
It would be a great pity if that were the case because KORG would position the KRONOS well above the price point of the Fantom or the Motif. I hope KORG will have enough common sense NOT to follow in Avid's footsteps.
If I use the formula with exchange rate of €1 = $1.3, the European street price of the 88 version (based on the USA street price of $3800) would be around €3500.
If I use an exchange rate of €1 = $1.25, the 88 key version would be around €3650. |

Actually the formula is: E = U * R * O
where U is the US price, R the rate change, and O which includes both Taxes (customs, VAT, etc...) and Distribution cOst, which is typically between 1.15 to 1.35
