I'm thinking of getting the SV1 stand. I understand it screws onto the keyboard. If you had a case big enough, could you just leave the stand screwed on during transport?

Hi Shaunkorg,
I don't think it would be advisable to leave the stand -ST SV1- attached to the piano when transporting-KORG advise against it.If you use the CB-SV1-73(or88) KORG padded case ,which has castors,it has a compartment for storing the stand, which also stiffens the case and gives added protection to the keyboard.

James.

I'm looking for ways to make setup and tear down faster.

Once you get good at it, the Korg SV-1 stand is fast enough.

I've found that the best way to setup the SV-1 using it's stand and case is to remove the stand from the SV-1 case first, then lay the case and keyboard on the floor topside up. Unzip the top of the case (the keyboard should be facing you) and roll the SV-1 backwards onto it's top while leaving it in the case and on the floor. This protects the topside/playing surface while giving you easy access to the underside, and since the keyboard stays on the ground the whole time there's no chance of it falling. Lock the legs into position, attach the stand to the keyboard bottom using the two screws, then flip-and-lift the entire unit onto it's feet with one motion. You may need a little help with that last part at first but once you get used to it you can snatch the keyboard onto it's feet right out of the case by gripping the front two legs near their top and pulling the SV-1 upright towards you.

I can go from packed instrument to ready to play in well under a minute pretty easily.

How much does the SV1 stand weigh?

Lugging around my heavy z stand isn't helping setup either.

thanks

I haven't got any numbers, but it is surprisingly heavy. I use another stand for gigs.

I got an Ultimate AX48pro for mine but not having the korg stand, I can't really compare stability. Obviously my low and high end has some minor movement in it due (mostly due to being on carpet, hardfloor it's pretty damn stable) to the length of SV-188 and the way the AX48 is designed but it's good enough, same price as Korg stand, holds two boards and is its own self contained case with handle.

I do wonder if I made a mistake and should have just gotten the korg stand. I haven't really been using my 61 key USB controller since getting the sv1!
