Just picked up a new(demo) MS and got it home, plugged it in and realized that the backlit display goes off after about 5-10 seconds! The words and icons are there but the screen is dark. When I hit certain buttons or change parameters with one of the knobs the display will light up again for a few seconds and then go off. Is this suppose to happen?? I noticed that on the product video the display is also dark while he's adjusting parameters. Please let me know! Thanks in advance.

It's designed that way. It's mentioned in the manual. Saves battery.

You can also set it to stay on all time if you like.

Global Mode Settings:

LCD.LIGHT (LCD backlight mode) ........ [“OFF,” AUTO, ON]
This specifies the display backlight mode.

“OFF” - The backlight will be off.

AUTO - The backlight will illuminate when you operate a knob or press a button. After a time, the backlight will turn off.

ON - The backlight will remain on constantly.
