I had this one finished about a week ago. I got a bit back into my film soundtrack roots here.

It sounds pretty similar towards my song "Drifting Away", however I got most of my inspiration off this piece here. I already had this song idea finished on piano, it's just I finally got to composing and mixing it. I used Garageband.

I like how the soft thump on the left contrasts to the clear piano. This is good soundtrack music. It has energy, emotion and drama. Awesome after 1.30 where the crash comes in. Nice high point. Very nice. I have no nits on this whatsoever. Very nice to listen to.

wowowow hands down my fav piece in OSAM so far!

The only thing that could possibly make this sound better is if you had better orchestral samples. In other words the production sounded perfect to me. 'Better samples' is no fault of the engineer.

Sounds like it could be part of an epic video game cut-scene.

Thanks guys! I'm glad you both enjoyed this. Smile

@Charles - Thanks so much, and yeah of course I would love to work with better orchestral samples. However I was pretty impressed with the sounds that came out of using garageband. I didn't expect it to sound the way it did. I surprise myself a lot when making music, haha.

And btw one of the pieces of music that inspired me to write this was Midna's Lament from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I'm sure you might be familiar then? For those who aren't, check it out. It's great.

Very nice orchestration work. The bass on the left is huge, sounds great on my headphones, (just wondering how it would translate on a car stereo). The melody I nicely panned and the strings take the central stage. Are the strings from a sample library of some sort?

Then at approx. 1:46 it all builds up and finally resolves. Very well done imho, respect!

Thanks sewa, I appreciate it. Smile

I didn't try to make the bass too loud. In my headphones it sounds fine...though most of my songs never translate that well on a car stereo. The bass usually does sound very loud, I sometimes have to turn the bass settings down when I listen to my music...hmm, maybe I need better headphones.

And I believe the strings are from one of the jam packs from Apple. The Symphony Orchestra pack.

Hi Again

Excellent soundtrack work ... Like it overall You should continue to work with the idea and get some really fine virtual orchestra set and do a little...More exact instrumental ranges, true voicing, etc would be available to you then...

Good Work!!

I really enjoyed it

Johnny... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks for the comments, John.

I'd love to have a nice virtual orchestra set. But I don't have the money... But I still was impressed with how it sounded when I was finished. I didn't expect that. But I do enjoy manipulating certain things with garageband to make everything sound better. For some of the string tracks, I had to lengthen the release so each note would flow into the next more fluidly. And I also had to make use of automation at certain points (like at 2:06) to make the strings more believable.
