|
|
I recently purchased this unit as a late night headphone practice tool. So far I'm very pleased. The only problem, this thing eats batteries. I decided to buy a power supply but before purchasing a Korg unit I searched through my box of power supplies and found one that I think might work. I know Korg recommends a 4.5 volt supply. The one I have is a 5 volt DC 2.5 amp power supply. Can anyone tell me if this unit will work without screwing up my PX4D???
Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried a 16ohms headphones, like in-ear earbuds??
If you are using a 60ohms impedance headphone it will drain batteries... |

Hey derek thanks for your response.
Yeah, I don't do ear buds, very uncomfortable for me. I'm currently using over the ear Ultrasone HFI-580 headphones, I believe they are 32 Ohm impedance. Really the battery drain is not the problem. I practice 2 to 3 hours each night, so batteries are only lasting two to three days max. I'm just concerned about the voltage with the power supply that I have which is 5 volts vs the 4.5 volt Korg recommends. Any insight on the power supply issue.
thanks again |

Hi Turnitup, in fact the Ultrasone you have is 32 Ohm impedance.
Korg recomends 16 Ohms impedance headphones.
Don't if it's safe using a 5V power supply.
In other hand 4xAAA have 6V (???)
What about 4 recheargeable AAA batteries?
You will get rid of the power suply wires. |

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm sure the Ultrasones has an effect on the battery drain, but I love these headphones. You have a point 4 AAA batteries have 6 volts, and they recommend 4.5, go figure. I thought about rechargeable route. I suppose I could just purchase a Korg power supply for this unit. Problem solved.
Thanks for the imput |
