It is interesting how you followed the instructions. I could plainly hear many of the techniques you used, the offsetting and the quantizing and the eqing also. I think it's great that you do these exercises. It must help you develop new techniques. This was very intersting. Gld you're keeping these up each month.

Cool. I like how you base these songs off articles like that. I guess it's a good source of inspiration to get songs done. I tried to read the article, though there were lots of things I didn't understand, sadly. I'm probably going to have to learn some of these things sometime down the road though.

for instance I bet the 'glitchy drums' section doesn't make much sense. I know the Cubase equivalent of the technique the author is attempting with Live. Basically you can take a drum loop and use a tool to detect transients (the initial attack of a percussive hit). The tool will slice up the loop into sections according to the peaks of the waveform, and then assign a midi note to each piece of the sliced loop.

You can then rearrange the assigned midi notes to rearrange the loop.

The author suggests piling a bunch of effects on some kick free loops before that process.

Oh, well as I look at it now, I think it's more that I need to read it slower to know what it's saying. With the Bass section, I think it'd be easier if I saw the process to understand it better.

Hi Charles...

Interesting slide in this odd melody in the bass...it sounds so UNUSUAL fitting to the rhythm as it does and middle range also... a nice sound! !

Not realy sure where its supposed to go but it has MUCH interest and I find it rather catchy and fun !!! That it follows the required instructions is of a side interest to me as a melody/harmony student of FAR too many years.... but I see why it is so arranged. It is involved to me, in the sense of new sounds but I see the reasoning behind it somewhat, and feel MORE WORK with this idea might yield realy startling results in some usage . . . .

And its VERY catchy as well and I like that!!!!!!!!!!
