http://www.korg.com/monotribe

Version 2 has just been released. Adds a bunch of new stuff: 16 step sequencer, drum rolls, S&H LFO, volume control etc...

Thanks mesoboy.

At first I was really disppointed that a new Monortibe had been released when the first version is still so new. Then I realised that you can upgrade the existing Monotribe's seqeuncer software to get the new features!

YOu load the enw firmware by playing a downloaded WAV file into the sync-in jack. Beautiful.

Yep, it's done with a sound file via the sync in (ZX Spectrum style!). The process can be a bit hit and miss - it took me a number of attempts on several computers, but I got there in the end. For me (so far) the best part of the update is 'active step' can now be used on individual parts (synth, BD, SN, HH) separately which can add a lot of variation to a simple pattern.

I forgot to say, tyvm korg! Korg always seem to finish their operating systems on the products I have used, unlike some companies.

This added functionality is great, and the fact that you can mod these babies is also very welcome, all be it, not officially.

The most fun update I've done in a while, takes me right back to 1983 and the VIC20 Datacorder ...

All went without a hitch - thanks Korg for improving on this wonderful machine. I particularly like the ability to change the active steps of individual parts for polyrythmic, asyncronous variations ...
