Hi guys, I am new to the forum. I was performing live when my wave drum bit the dust on me. Completely lost power and has not been able to power up since. There may have been stress on the power cord during this. Has anyone else had such problems? I spoke to a authorized repair shop and they said it was $80 just to look at it and no telling how much to fix it. Does anyone have any type of experience with this power loss problem? I have a Kaossilator too with the same type of charger, and both power supplies do not work with it but they both work with Kaossilator, so it can't be the power cord. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Which wave drum? I'm not home to look in mine but wonder what goes on inside after the jack. Is there a fuse on board the board? Anyone have a print for one of these?

The power jack is soldered to the circuit board, and just kinda floats in the case opening; if there was a lotta lateral strain on it, one or more of the solder pads could shear off the PCB, leaving you hooped. That kinda thing is usually a relatively easy fix that oughta be covered by an $80 bench fee.

Stress on the adapter cord could certainly account for your problem. I've noticed that the power input jack is not exactly robust on the Wavedrum. They already have a slightly loose fit to begin with so it probably wouldn't take too great a force to cause some problems.

That being said, it could also be a fuse issue. There is a local tech here in Connecticut who is certified for Korg repairs. He told me a few months ago that he was working on a Wavedrum with exactly that problem. It was just a fuse issue but his work was being help up because he was waiting for a replacement part from Korg. I can't imagine that it would be some sort of proprietary component, but that's what he relayed to me.

Not sure where you're located but it might be worth looking up "Upscale Music" in Newington, CT. He might be familiar with your situation and be able to offer a solution. He does great work and also specializes in custom cabling and other services that may prove beneficial to your situation.

Keep us posted.

Cool thanks for the replies guys. I think I might take it all apart and see if it is something solderable. Definitely worth he 30+ custom settings I have on there.

the 9 Volt jack really seems to be a weak point
I had the same problem as you
but still had my warranty and got it repaired for free
(good and fast service.)
since then I use the cable hook and a bit of tape all the time ,
and would very much prefer 90 deg. plugs.
Im afraid that the headphone jack might be the same construction...

hope you find the mistake and are able to fix it yourself.
this thread can show you what is inside your WD. :

It's true I haven't been as on the ball As I wish I could be of late!

As for the fuse we have several components in some of our companies gear that now use soldered in fuses, not something you find at a big box.
