I had to buy an external USB drive as my old Archos is not class-compliant and needs drivers to operate with Windows. So I was looking at the current models on the market, and I ended up buying the LiteOn ETDU108, similar to this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Liteon-ETDU108-02-External-Slimline-Black/dp/B002EPD6BO

The reason I took this one is that it is reasonably cheap, has the relevant specs 8x DVD 24x CD-RW (no need for better than that with the Kronos), but specifically, because it is a top loader as opposed to the sliding door sort which most slim models are. That way, I can put it on the left of my 73, near the vector joystick, and it's easier to load disks.

Official manufacturer's page:

Have you burned an audio cd from your Kronos using just this? Thanks.

No, not yet. But as a class compliant device, it should work. Will report more when the postman delivers it.

Well, the drive arrived today, and it's going back to the dealer.

I made a mistake on the model, and they both look the same, with both having Nero 9 on the box !

The model I got was eTDU108. The model you want, which also does burner is eTAU108 or eTAU208 !

Right, back to the dealer for a swap !
