hi, i have a problem in mind..
in korg.com they stated that for sgx-1 there's 100 voices dual stereo note for piano... what does that mean??
1. does it mean it could play 100 piano samples to sound simultaneously?? to make it simple, if i press all 88 keys at the same time, will all those notes ring out??? there's even 12 voices left? (of course when full processing power is dedicated for sgx-1 engine)
2. all i know from the previous keyboards i own, including korg digital pianos, i only heard the term "polyphony" or "oscillators"... for example, my korg c-720 has 64 notes polyphony/oscillators, BUT, the piano sound eat 4 oscillators for 1 note.. so in theory, it could only produce 16 piano notes simultaneously (64/4)... does the same concept applies to kronos?? if it applies, then in theory, kronos could only makes 25 piano notes sounding simultaneously (which is totally NOT GOOD )...
is concept number one or number two applies in kronos???? _________________ Love my kronos 88

1. Yes.
If you hold the pedal down and play all 88 notes, you'll hear all of them play all the way to the end. Many of the low notes are close to 30 seconds long! On the EXs12 piano you can play all 92 notes!
2. In the Kronos, we count voices. The SGX-1 can play up to 100 voices stereo, with resonance.
Right now you might be saying to yourself, "WHAT?!! THAT MUST BE, LIKE, TONS OF DATA AND STUFF! HOW DO THOSE GUYS DO IT?" The answer is ...
MAGIC!
I hope I don't get in trouble for sharing company secrets!! _________________ Andy Leary

Thanks Andy.
Related to your second question, SGX-1's maximum polyphony is 400, so when you're playing a note without the damper pedal held down, it's using two voices at once to play a stereo sample- one for the left, and one for the right. With the damper held down, the stereo damper resonance adds two more, for a total of four voices at once (or dual-stereo).
Hope this helps,
