dunno if this is similar on the M50 but in auditioning combis, I kept encountering basslines that were using one of the 2 arpeggiators. is there an easy way to "disconnect" these, so the bass can be played manually?

If I remember correctly, you simply turn off the ARP button. Many preloaded combis are saved with the ARP turned on, but you can always turn it off and resave it, and it will retain its state.

that turns off the arp but somehow doesn't allow the bass sound to be played manually....

Some of the arp'ed basses are on different midi channels. You'd only hear them if they're on G (global) or channel 1.

That's one issue.

There's also a select box on the arps performance (not arp set-up) that tells whether you want the key (note played) and the arp (pattern triggered) to sound simultaneously or just the arp. I think that If you turn the arp off and tic the key play box that you'll get just played bass notes when the arp is disabled (tic A/B box) or turned off (arp on/off button).

One or the other - perhaps both - of these aught to turn on the bass voice.

encounters this, Bill's advice about MIDI track assignments did the trick!

in order to play "live" in Combi or Seq mode with a tone that's used in the combi's ARP patterns, you first have to make sure it is on MIDI trk 1 (or Global).

thanks much Bill!
