I was setting up to shoot a Kronos video. I left the room and my son came in, knocking over my tripod and camera.........right into the Touchscreen. Face palm

I heard a crash! I looked in from the doorway and saw my camera planted right into the Kronos' screen. There was no screaming. No punishing. Just a bit of shock; I couldn't even enter the room for about 5 minutes.

I'm pretty dang tight on finances at the moment, so it might be a little while. Any idea what this will cost to replace?

If you are under warranty, check with Korg. They might surprise you.

Don't give your son any pocket money for a year.
I live for my kronos if anybody broke it I would not be responsible for my actions.
Look on the bright side your camera still works.

I've only had it for 4 months, but I don't know about that kind of coverage.

I had to take a chill pill. I still can't believe it. Now that I can't play with it, I'm already missing my most powerful board. Thank goodness I still have the OASYS.

Actually, I thought that might be damaged too, but it seems okay. It's the Panasonic HVX200, which has a huge lens hood on it, so that part saved it. I was still able to make a short video with it. I included the broken screen on the Video.

I went through this a couple of years ago with my Triton Pro. I located a replacement screen from a third party for $250.00 and put it in myself.
It was noticeably brighter. I guess it had dimmed over time.

I suspect this display may be more... So sad!

Sorry to hear about it Mike. You are so helpful on this forum. I guess the only thing to do is get her in the shop so you can get her back. In this economy money is tight. For this type of event I would resign myself to using the plastic. Hope you get it back soon.

Great vid on the "punchy horns". I will implement it on my Oasys later.

Ouch... very sorry to hear this Mike. Hope you get it fixed up as new quickly.

My 2 cents, there's no chance in hell KORG cover anyone for "Accidental Damage".

That's the sort of cover most people get with their home insurance, so in this case if it were me, I'd be calling my Home Insurance company, not KORG.

Regards
Sharp.

OUCH!
Shocked Shocked Shocked

Definitely check with your home owners insurance. It's sometimes surprising what they will cover...

I cringed visibly when I read your post,

Homeowners might work but I find out what your deductible is first and then the cost of the repair.

My condolences It might still be controllable via the editor, no? If the screen makes the unit go haywire, maybe you could disconnect it until you get a new one, though I don't know if that would cause a boot failure or not.

WTF???

Try looking replacement screen from parts is parts.. It's usually cheaper than direct from korg stuff.. But you have to DIY on installing it if you want to press down the budget..

Take a deep breath, swallow real hard, cough a few times, let a tear roll down one cheek, call a Korg repair facility, check the cost, let a tear roll down the other cheek. get it repaired. Hug your kid. Surely he meant no harm, and could the lamp have fallen on his head? Sometimes, a misfortune can be a break. Best of luck for a successful repair.
