Hey guys.

Just joined the Korg forum and hope I can solve my problem.

Yesterday I played with my Korg Wavedrum at a gig and when I was packing the engineer knocked my Wavedrum over on it's snare stand. It fell on the area where the inputs are and the one that had the cable in, is basically in the wavedrum. It still works but when I played on it, I realised something is loose and falling around in the wavedrum which made me obviously so worried. I took the head off and saw a little black plastic part with a "v" letter on it.

Do you guys have any idea what thsi is and if I should worry. It still works and everything. Hope it's not a waiting game until something breaks. I am in South Africa and we don't have any Korg services which I know of.

can you post 2 pictures ?
one of the input jack and one of the broken part ?

Korg would probably just replace the output section .
but if you dont have easy warranty repairs ,
this also can be soldered by a repair shop .
Might not be very expensive as you already know
what is broken .
doesnt your sound guy have private insurance ? Wink

Yeah, it is still working and I jammed on it the whole of yesterday.

I don't know if it's maybe the clip that's underneath the one input. no clue.

Also just insured it.

Think sound guy might have. Just have no clue where to take it in for repairs. I can probably just take it to the music shop and see what I can do. Will still send you a pic of the input. When I opened the wavedrum up, I saw that when it fell it basically knocked it a little into the wavedrum. You can see from the inside it's a little bit to the back. It looks like you just have to bring it back to the front but yeah, if I know what the part is I will maybe feel little better. haha.

yes , this seems to be kind of a clip
hard to say from a picture .
it seems to be broken on one end
maybe it was holding the output module PCB
in its original position

if broken:
then improvisation skills are necessary
maybe needs to be glued together + some extra plastik
this is a damage , that every good electronic repairman can handle.
For now I would not use the "broken" output , but the other one

Pro solution : get that output module from Korg

and have it mounted and connected
by any (experienced) electro or computer guy

my recommendation for the very sensible output jacks :
right angled plugs

be very careful with a quick pushing something back to position
better : access the output module (screws at the bottom of WD)
and clear the situation

Thank you so much for your help. That souns perfect and will do so. Do you know where I can get hold of that Korg part? Anywhere online maybe to order it or should I ask a music store rather.

I tried opening up the wavedrum the other day underneath but don't know what to do to get to the output module part. I loosened all the screws the other day and nothing came off and then i got that piece of plastic out through removing the head.

Is there a way to open the back. I saw ther are little screws that I can't reach.

access the panel with the knobs
and the 2 second layer PCBs with 9 V and ins/outs

you need a long but small "philips" screwdriver
remove the 4 (?) screws that are "hidden" in the deep "holes"
close to the input section
---> at the bottom (underneath) of the Wavedrum
maybe also the 2 screws next to the big rim screws (bottom)
also need to remove rim and skin and pressure plastic shield
to reach cable connector to mainboard .
best : open and research yourself

you will eventually void your warranty if you go too far ...
there must be a Korg distributor who delivers official repair service
