I wouldn't say it was excellent, in fact I would say it was pretty vague. It was written for those of us who know all about the previous releases, but that's not what he should be writing about. He should be writing for people who know nothing about the Wavedrum at all.
He didn't go into any detail about the new sounds.
At all.
What kind of review doesn't say ANYTHING about the sounds in a device.
He didn't say anything about the interface.
Someone should be redesigning this interface and it should have been done before the release of t he Oriental. This is one of the worst UI's I've ever had the displeasure to use and I've owned just about every drum machine/trigger module ever offered.
The algorithms have so many parameters that they should be much more easily accessed. It currently takes me about 30 minutes to fine tune a patch because I have to keep going back and forth through the menus to tweak and fine tune pitch/tone sweep etc. since they all interact with each other.
If this device was easier to edit then many more people would be "catching" the Wavedrum. |

| Agreed there is way to much menu diving. Never the less it is a fun instrument to play on. |

We should write our own review , together with a wishlist
because the people in this forum(?) PLAY the instrument .

actually he is critical about the interface ,
the missing editor and USB at about 8.00 mins ++

imo it is sometimes not possible to tune these goofy samples
to something close to a 440 Hertz tonal system
If I wanna have a quartertone , I prefer to bend myself ...
(sorry , I am not enough "avantgarde"
to appreciate quartertones as basic tuning ...) 
Korg didnt nail it with the samples , not at all ...
maybe next time better use a tuner
and also listen into "Superior Drummer" or similar software ?
not one cool multisample (1 instrument with 4 velocity layers)
Cross blending 2 layers ??? ... what could that be ?
very far from being perfect , know what I mean ?

there actually are companies that react on the suggestions and wishes of their customers .
(eg. EHX has an own forum and answers to customers , imagine that ...)
And there are companies , that are not at all interested (or able)
to communicate with their customers ...
hellooo , the customers pay the money (or dont ...) ,
not everybody is a fanboy .
I know these are pretty hard words ,
but I am for shure not affiliated with Korg
and am not following the company whatever it does.

Fun is necessary, oh yeah please
but more musical usability and self determination as well...
no prob in the Kindergarten , but thats not my musical level .
(usability is of course subjective again , I know ... )
I want to see my comments as a constructive critique,
although I dont think it will have much effect . |

I must admit that Korg are lacking in their response or listening to its customers. This forum has a range of talent and experience from gerneral users through to the highly technical and I have seen so many coments for improvements. The user interface especially and at least USB if not MIDI interface and what about a built in foot contol. I mean the mini has it. This is a magic devise that could be just so much better with a bit of tweaking. I was tempted by the Global but just felt there was not enough improvement to warrant the upgrade.
