Hi fellas,
I wanted to pick up the exb 09 board. Will I have as much control over it as I would with the Keyboard?

Short answer is yes.

EXB-09 is a ROM expansion. All of the wave samples are present (effectively zero load time) just as they are in the inboard (stock) ROM and can be used the same way and built up into programs in the same manner as any internal ROM sample. Mix and match, it doesn't matter unless you're working on a second platform and then the internal and same expansion ROM are required to make .pgc files work cross-platform.

There are around 75 samples in the 09's synth section -- those cover a variety of synths from classic to more recent with around 5 or 6 of each variety - for example, the "detuned" family will have saw, square, triangle, sine, etc.

The set includes some somewhat less useable vocal construction kits with actual word samples of M/F singers-talkers.

The remaining samples are of drums and rather than give a number I'll just say that they're organized into 8 very useable kits.

Overall this EXB adds a depth of synth-osc flavors that will greatly increase the usability of the triton series to program and play synth sounds -- that is where it is aimed and that is all it does. Don't look for string or wind samples off this EXB.

The triton extreme included this ROM -- all of it -- in its standard ROM package, and EXB 09 has retained much of it's value because of its relevance to making varied and good sounding synth tones.
