I verified that the battery selection button had been toggled for NiMH batteries, but the Kross won't turn on. It flashes the backlight, but never gets to stay on long enough to show the OS version. I updated it to the current 1.03 OS while on the mains.
All of the batteries were freshly charged, of the same age and type, 2300 mAh NiMH, and verified good with a voltmeter.
I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this. Alkalines work fine. I just would prefer to run rechargeable batteries. |

An update. As it turned out one or more of my rechargeable batteries were suspect. I charged the batteries and put them into another piece of gear that shortly failed.
I put in a different set of NiMH batteries into the Kross and it's running now.
Still, I wouldn't mind finding out why the manual states that ordinary carbon zinc batteries should not be used. (A different question from my original post, I know.) |
