Anyone control microX patterns/arps/combis from an external controller/sequencer? If so, do you have any advice on how to set up the patch?

On my Alesis Micron, this is what I do:
1. Turn off latch, because there is no way to control on/off with the pattern if the latch is on.
2. Remove the rhythm/drum part and put it a a separate key, that is, the lowest/highest key on the board controls the rhythm/drum going on/off. You don't want it combined into the synth arp part, or else you cannot control them separately.
3. Use the rest of the keybed for the synth arp part, so you can control the chords.

Do you do something similar with the microX?
