I've wondered that too, squinting in bad light trying to find the little embossed 'L' and 'R'. But then I asked myself, what difference does it make? It's not like a drum kit with a clear left and right. Each sound is just a small, simple drum, right? So for myself I decided it doesn't matter, not for mix purposes anyway.
Is there another reason you want to know? |

Looking down at the drum from the top L is on the left and R is on the right. |
