morning all,
Anyone who has seen me on the boards knows I am waiting on delivery of a Kronos 2 here in the UK, however had an interesting phone call yesterday evening with my local music shop, who offered me the following...
An ex demo Korg Kronos X 61 fully boxed with full warranty £1650 and EXS11 installed.
So using my maths, I have worked out that if I buy this and buy all the additional sounds that come with the K2, I will still save around £400.
Bargain or should I not bother? Would be interested to hear Greg's opinion.

Yes one was Karo and the rest were Korg. From memory Legendry strings and the Austrian Grand and the Karo one was a symphonic library. They were $249 a pop that I remember. _________________ Korg Oasys 88

Hi Benny,
What has made you hold out. I have already fully paid for my K2 (long story) but obviously as I haven't yet received it, I can get a refund anytime.
My only real concern is at the moment details of any real big improvements to the K2 over the original K's is sketchy, so it feels like I am really only buying an original K X anyway.
Cheers. _________________ Scott

Glad to help. I am super careful when buying any used expensive , fairly complex item
I would 1) see if this price is truly competitive. get a good range of sold prices of X61's in your country
2) a demo ? Does it include everything ? Factory box, warranty cards, restore DVD's, and hard copy manuals ?
3) a demo is still used; get exact history. whats serial #. any scratches , dings ? Here in the US there are some etailers that dress up customer returns and say ' demo '. This kind of spin bothers me. Some buyers can be rough on an instrument, drop it, break something, then return it. I don't think the Kronos is an instrument that can be dropped on the floor. So for my money, I would need the specifics on the history of the X61
4) Does it boot up ? What ver is the OS ? In fact, this might be step 1. If the shop cannot boot it up, that would save a lot of time.
5) do you like this shop ? are they top notch to deal with ? Trustworthy ?
6) watch for prelim reports of actual X2 users in Tokyo.
7) If all the above passes, might be worth a visit to confirm, then seal the deal. Also make a lower offer in person. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Ha Scottgblood Just hating paying up front and I love the KronosX but having hard time kinda looking at Nord Stage 2 but afraid I would bet bored without all the features that the Kronos has. I may go ahead and purchase soon but may try out Nord. I am afraid if I wait I may miss the boat on first shipment but will decide soon. Not cutting much off price of K2 and I got a killer deal on my Kronos X and selling exactly what I paid for it. |
