PS the iConnectmidi4+ is an amazing bit of kit for converting USB to midi ,plus 4 way midi merge ,but probably overkill for two or three bits of kit, especially if your not interested in iOS.Totally future proof if you were going to expand your set up though.
They also did an older, cheaper iCM1 that is good, but harder to find.

Thanks for your replies. Not an easy "workflow"... (especially when I'm going to buy other synths in the future). Maybe it's better to buy the Electribe 2 Sampler and just sample the Streichfett/other synths. Problem solved Wink

why can't you just emulate soft-thru behavior on your computer...?

Just route your electribe's midi-in into the midi-out, and viola!

Doesn't want to use a computer.Computer free zone.
Hardware only can be a more immediate experience , it's how I like to work too.Sound forge or Audacity always ,even though Reason 5 and Logic are on my machine.

well, you could always just mod a midi-thru, which is damned easy considering how simple the spec is... all you do is short the line from the opto-iso going to the synth uart over to a new midi connector. I've been thinking about doing it to mine...

I think it's more feasible for him to spend ~$100 on a small black box that does midi routing/filtering/splitting/merging/debugging. If you're mucking with midi, you really ought to have a laptop for doing exactly these kinds of things, anyways. You don't really lose any immediacy if all you're doing is setting up a midi route and forgetting about it.

Or, you could buy two black boxes that only do splitting.

I'm in the same boat as you guys, anyways. All hardware, unless i need some strange midi route/filter/mapping/conversion, then i bust out my shitty thinkpad.
