|
|
The Radias vocoder used to always work fine for me. Then one day I turned on the synth and no vocoder. I tried sticking a different mic in there. I also tried connecting a dynamic mic with a hi / lo Z adapter and flipping the switch in back to dynamic. No luck. Yes I had the vocoder button on. I have specific saved patches that I used to use for the vocoder effect.
What do you think happened? Did a part inside get blown out? I'm pretty good with soldering and fixing computer so maybe it's something I can order and fix myself? |

Hi,
You may try set up a new patch and route the external input as source for oscillator 1.
If hitting keys while talking into the mic does not result in some sound from the synth, then probably there is a problem with the input path of the mic.
If you get sound, then there is a problem with a vocoder setting, I would say.
Get it checked/fixed by a Korg dealer or browse the forum here, somewhere there should be a link to the service manual giving you the schematics of the radiasr.
Good luck! _________________ microKORGXL, Kaossilator Pro, monotribe, SQ-1, volca fm, Kross 88 BK

Aghhh! Audio In for voice was turned down.
Another question. Is there a way to program the amount of voice VS synth sound? |

Voila, you found the root cause
Your other question. Well yes. But it is not completely clear what you want.
1. The vocoder is assigned to 1 of the 4 timbres in a program. You can control the balance of each timbre and thus also the vocoder timbre vs the other 3 synth timbres. Two ways:
1.a. By tweaking the output balance parameter (p03-2), . Remark, reducing the main volume via the output balance, means in fact that the signal of a timbre is sent fully to the individual output, but decreases in the main output.
1.b. By tweaking the level of each timbre in the AMP section (p08-1).
2. The clean voice vs the vocoded voice within the timbre the vocoder is assigned to.
2.a. p06-1 Vocoder level -> controls the level of the vocoded voice
2.b. p08-1 HPF level and direct level -> controls the clean voice levelin the mix
Have fun! _________________ microKORGXL, Kaossilator Pro, monotribe, SQ-1, volca fm, Kross 88 BK
